The baths were constructed in the late 2nd century AD and rank as the fourth-largest preserved Roman thermae in Europe and the largest in the Balkans.
[1] Coins of Roman emperor Septimius Severus (r. 193–211) have been discovered among the bath ruins.
[3] The ruins were first scientifically recognized as an ancient object in 1906 by the Austro-Hungarian researcher E. Kalinka.
[4] In August 2013, Varna Municipality ordered an urgent reconservation project for the Roman Thermae worth 125,000 Bulgarian leva.
[1] The thermae are the largest in the Balkan region and the biggest surviving ancient building in what is today Bulgaria.
