Sarmentosin is a glycoside and that is found in several plant species, notably Ribes nigrum (blackcurrants) and Sedum sarmentosum.

Recent studies have specifically identified sarmentosin as a key bioactive compound in blackcurrants that contributes to its monoamine oxidase inhibitory effects.
