Schoolcraft Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan

[4] The township is named for Henry Schoolcraft, noted for conducting many early land surveys throughout Michigan.

[4] As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 7,260 people, 2,781 households, and 2,027 families residing in the township.

There were 2,916 housing units at an average density of 84.9 per square mile (32.8/km2).

There were 2,781 households, out of which 36.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.7% were married couples living together, 9.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.1% were non-families.

22.1% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
