Shandon, Ohio

Shandon is an unincorporated community in southwestern Morgan Township, Butler County, Ohio, United States.

[1] It is located on Paddy's Run, a tributary of the Great Miami River, about four miles west of Ross at the intersection of State Routes 126 and 748 in section 25 of R1ET3N of the Congress Lands.

The township was named after General Daniel Morgan for his victories in the American Revolutionary War; he too was a Welsh descendant from the colony of Virginia.

Although settled by Welsh, its first post office created June 10, 1831 bore an Irish name, Paddy's Run.

It's also been known, officially and unofficially, as Cambria, Glendower, Vaughan, New London and Bagdad before becoming Shandon more than 110 years ago.
