Smithfield, Nebraska

Smithfield is a village in Gosper County, Nebraska, United States.

Smithfield was platted in 1890 in a field formerly owned by Elbert and Nancy Smith.

[4] Smithfield was a shipping point on the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad.

[5] According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.17 square miles (0.44 km2), all land.

28.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 16% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.

There were 8.0% of families and 5.9% of the population living below the poverty line, including no under eighteens and none of those over 64.
