South Naknek, Alaska

South Naknek (Central Yupik: Qinuyang) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Bristol Bay Borough, Alaska, United States.

[2] South Naknek first appeared on the 1880 U.S. Census as one of two unincorporated Inuit villages called "Paugwik.

As of the census[8] of 2000, there were 137 people, 46 households, and 33 families residing in the CDP.

15.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 2.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.

There were 16.1% of families and 27.1% of the population living below the poverty line, including 41.7% of under eighteens and none of those over 64.

There is no bridge connecting the two towns, so school-children must be flow across the river and the beginning and the end of the school day.
