Sparta Township, Chippewa County, Minnesota

The township was first settled along the timber districts along the Minnesota River.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 814 people, 311 households, and 247 families residing in the township.

The racial makeup of the township was 98.89% White, 0.37% Native American, 0.37% Asian, and 0.37% from two or more races.

There were 311 households, out of which 36.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.7% were married couples living together, 4.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.3% were non-families.

18.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
