The nearest towns are Urlapovo and Borovskoye near the eastern lakeshore.

Aleysk, the district capital, lies 43 kilometers (27 mi) to the southeast.

The lake has an elongated shape, stretching roughly from northeast to southwest for over 6 kilometers (3.7 mi).

Reeds and cattails are found in sections of the lakeshore.
