Taenianotus is a monotypic genus of marine ray-finned fish belonging to the family Scorpaenidae, the scorpionfishes.
[3][4] This genus is classified within the tribe Scorpaenini, in the subfamily Scorpaeninae of the family Scorpaenidae.
Their color varies from green, red, pink, brown, ocher and yellowish to a ghostly white.
This fish has appendages around the mouth, and sometimes real algae and hydroids grow on its skin.
[2] It is an ambush predator, waiting until suitable prey, a small fish or shrimp, approaches.
