Tamamura (玉村町, Tamamura-machi) is a town located in Gunma Prefecture, Japan.
[2] Per Japanese census data,[3] the population of Tamamura has recently plateaued after several decades of strong growth.
[4][5] Tamamura town was created within Nawa District, Gunma Prefecture on April 1, 1889 with the creation of the modern municipalities system after the Meiji Restoration.
Tamamura has a mayor-council form of government with a directly elected mayor and a unicameral town council of 13 members.
In terms of national politics, the town is part of Gunma 2nd district of the lower house of the Diet of Japan.
