Te Matatini

Te Matatini is seen as playing a very important role within Māoridom in promoting the tikanga of the Māori culture and kapa haka.

The society in its current form was established in 1972 and has focused on the long term nurturing of Māori performing arts.

[6][7][8] The pools and finals were screened on national television on Māori TV and available to viewers in New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Island's.

Mission statement of Te Mana Kuratini: To nurture our tamariki in the traditional Māori performing arts and to develop, enhance and maintain a passion and enjoyment in the pursuit of Kapa Haka excellence.

[11]There is also PolyFest which started 1976 and is possibly the worlds largest secondary schools cultural competition and includes Māori kapa haka.
