Temnothorax longispinosus

(Dominique Monie 2017) Temnothorax longispinosus is a species of Temnothorax commonly found in eastern United States and eastern Canada as well as British Columbia.

[1][2] This genus is often adorned with small protrusions from the body towards the gaster and petiole.

Additionally, this species tends to be between 2–2.5mm in length.

[1] Temnothorax longispinosus tends towards forest habitats.

[3] Nesting habits change throughout the seasons, but they generally nest in preformed structures within the leaf litter.
