The building, sited on the northeast corner of the historic New Haven Green, changed hands several times over the years.

Situated on the corner of Elm and Church streets, the site was the home of Richard Perry in the 1640s, who served as secretary to the General Court of the Colony of New Haven.

[2] The building was constructed for the Union and New Haven Trust Co. during the Roaring Twenties, designed to reflect the architecture of the Green and its three historic churches.

[6] On March 28, 2013, Cooper Church LLC, a New York-based developer, purchased the 184,480 square-foot building from Hampshire Hotels & Resorts for $13.5 million.

Construction to convert the former office building to 138 studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom market rate rental apartments began in April 2014.
