The new landfill area is called "Shin-Urayasu" (New-Urayasu), and has an "American" inspired layout, with a grid-like map of wide streets, large sidewalks, palm trees and parks.

Urayasu has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen Cfa) characterized by warm summers and cool winters with light to no snowfall.
