Urzhar District

Uerzhar (Kazakh: Үржар ауданы, Ūrjar audany, ٷرجار اۋدانى) is a district of Abai Region in the eastern part of Kazakhstan, which borders with China.

The administrative center of the district is the selo of Úrjar.

[4] Ürjar District was first established in 1928, at the time of the Kazakh Autonomous Socialist Soviet Republic, It was part of the Semipalatinsk Region.

In 1997, six years after the independence from the USSR, the Semipalatinsk Region was abolished and Ürjar District became part of the East Kazakhstan Region.
