VT 5A proceeds north into Orleans County and the town of Westmore traversing through the Willoughby State Forest and along the eastern side of Lake Willoughby before intersecting with the eastern end of VT 16.
[1] While the designation of VT 5A has changed since its initial construction, its routing and function have not.
Vermont Route 5A features several scenic overlooks along the eastern shore of Lake Willoughby, including popular spots such as the Devil's Rock and Mount Pisgah pull-offs.
These overlooks provide breathtaking views of the lake's clear waters and the dramatic cliffs that rise on either side, making them ideal locations for photography and nature observation.
The route's proximity to these natural landmarks adds to its appeal as a destination for outdoor enthusiasts traveling through northeastern Vermont.
