During his childhood, he viewed the dead bodies of two people who had just been murdered inside a bus, including that of his brother Waldemir at the age of 18 due to gang-related issues.
[10] On 16 October 2010 he made his first start, scoring a hat-trick in the 4–1 home victory over A.D. Os Limianos in the third round of the Taça de Portugal.
[12] Walter spent the vast majority of his first season as a backup to Radamel Falcao,[13] but managed to finish with ten goals in all competitions in 25 appearances.
[19][20] In August 2018, while at the service of Centro Sportivo Alagoano, Walter was arrested at his home in Maceió, after allegedly pointing a toy gun to an Eletrobras employee.
He scored five goals in the tournament held in Venezuela, being crowned top scorer as the national team won their tenth title in the category.
