Westerly Hospital was founded in 1925 to continually improve the health and well-being of the people in the region.

[3] One of Florence Nightingale's nursing caps was on display in the lobby of the hospital, starting in 1965.

During its 2020 fiscal year, it reported 12,609 inpatient discharges and 284,718 outpatient visits.

[6] The Westerly Hospital provides comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services to inpatients and outpatients, with particular expertise in laboratory services, diagnostic imaging, surgery, emergency care, cardiac care, physical therapy & rehabilitation.

In late 2019, Westerly Hospital opened a Geriatric-Psychiatric unit, providing 18 beds to 55-years of age and older patients.
