Abdurehim Amet

Abdurehim Amet (Uyghur: ئابدۇرەھىم ئامەت, romanized: Abdurehim Amet; born September 1942) is a Chinese politician of Uyghur origin who served as chairman of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region between 2004 and 2008.

Abdurehim Amet was born in Shufu County, Xinjiang, in September 1942, during the Republic of China.

[2] After graduation, he taught at Yuzi People's Commune in Turpan for a short while before becoming involved in politics in June 1965.

[2] In April 1983, he became deputy secretary of Xinjiang Regional Commission for Discipline Inspection, the party's agency in charge of anti-corruption efforts.

[2] In January 2001, he became vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, rising to chairman in January 2004.
