According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 36.6 square miles (94.9 km2), all land.
In 1829 Beaver and Cussewago were reduced in area by the incorporation of Spring Township between them.

19.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 6.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
