Brownville (village), New York

Brownville is a village in Jefferson County, New York, United States.

The village is named after Jacob Brown, an early settler and developer.

The village is in the southern part of the town of Brownville, west of Watertown.

As of the census[5] of 2000, there were 1,022 people, 419 households, and 292 families residing in the village.

There were 447 housing units at an average density of 689.6 per square mile (266.3/km2).

26.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 12.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
