Charles Melcher was born on January 19, 1965, and raised in New York City, where he attended the Ethical Culture Fieldston School.

Past engagements have included SXSW,[5] C2 Montréal,[6] EY Innovation Realized,[7] the Milken Institute Global Conference,[8] and Phi Centre's The New Storytellers.
[9] In 2019, Melcher and FoST were engaged as the official Executive Storytellers for the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora, North Dakota, which is currently scheduled to open to the public in 2025.
