Colton is an unincorporated community in Travis County, in the U.S. state of Texas.

When the community's post office opened in 1897, the name of the settlement was changed from Cotton, which was a tribute to the region's main crop, to Colton.

Ten to fifteen people lived in Colton at that time, along with a small business.

[2] Colton is located on U.S. Route 183 and FM 1625, 7 mi (11 km) southeast of Austin in Travis County.
