Dunlap, Travis County, Texas

Dunlap is an unincorporated community in Travis County, in the U.S. state of Texas.

It bears the name of William Dunlap Hunter, who took over as postmaster in 1886 after the community was given a post office.

Mail for the settlement was sent to Austin after the post office was shut down in 1901.

[2] Dunlap is located on Farm to Market Road 969, 12 mi (19 km) east of Austin in eastern Travis County.
