Demodex bovis

These lesions most commonly occur on the neck, shoulders, and armpit of cattle; however, sometimes they also appear on the udder.

Demodicosis occurs when female mites lay eggs in hair follicles.

Each follicle may contain hundreds or thousands of mites, which leads to the formation of skin papules and nodules.

[3] Their size can range from as small as a pinhead to as large as a chicken egg.

[4] The burst nodules and papules can damage the cattle's skin, which results in economic losses due to problems with leather production.
