Esplanade Reserve

In April 2012, the Western Australian state government resumed the reserve as part of the Elizabeth Quay redevelopment of the Perth waterfront area.

[2][3] Adjacent hotels, railway stations and other features have used the term Esplanade to show their link to the space.

The northern edge of Perth Water, stretching from Mount Eliza in Kings Park to The Causeway, underwent significant modifications through land reclamation along the original pre-European shoreline.

[5] A recreation ground, now Wellington Square, was included in the original town plan, but was considered too far for most people to walk to and was largely undeveloped.

[9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17] The first major event held on the Esplanade was the 1881 Intercolonial Exhibition, organised by Richard Twopenny and Jules Joubert.
