It is located at the junction of the 1,000 mm (3 ft 3+3⁄8 in) metre gauge Albula and Davos Platz–Filisur lines of the Rhaetian Railway.

From the direction of Chur, the line passes through Thusis and Tiefencastel.

It then crosses two of the Rhaetian Railway's major railway bridges before arriving in Filisur: the Schmittentobel Viaduct, and the Landwasser Viaduct.

As of the December 2023 timetable change,[update] the following services stop at Filisur:[4][5]
