Geoffrey Russom

Geoffrey Richard Russom is an American philologist who is Professor Emeritus of English at Brown University.

cum laude with Departmental Honors from Stanford University in June 1968, his M.A.

His Ph.D. dissertation examined the originality of the scops of Old English literature.

Since January 2009 he has been Professor Emeritus of English at Brown University.

[2] Russom's research centers on Old English, Middle English, Old Norse, and Old Irish literature, Germanic linguistics, poetry, and the concept of "barbarians" in imperialist writing.
