Gray Wolf Ridge

The ridge and its component mountains are markedly steep, as is its primary access route, the Maynard Burn Trail (#816) of Olympic National Forest.

The higher, western segment of Gray Wolf Ridge lies within the boundary of Olympic National Park.

[2] Gray Wolf Ridge is located in the marine west coast climate zone of western North America.

As fronts approach, they are forced upward by the peaks of the Olympic Range, causing them to drop their moisture in the form of rain or snowfall (Orographic lift).

[5] The mountains were sculpted during the Pleistocene era by erosion and glaciers advancing and retreating multiple times.
