Horní Cerekev (German: Ober Zerekwe) is a town in Pelhřimov District in the Vysočina Region of the Czech Republic.
Horní Cerekev consists of five municipal parts (in brackets population according to the 2021 census):[2] The settlement was originally named Líčkovice after its founder Líček and later renamed Cierkev, i.e. 'church' in old Czech.
Later the name evolved into Cerekev and the attribute Horní ('upper') was added.
The last noble owners, who held Horní Cerekev until 1945, was the House of Hohenzollern.
The original wooden church gave the town its name and was later replaced by a stone one.
