Royal Prussian Jagdstaffel 49, commonly abbreviated to Jasta 49, was a jagdstaffel ("hunting squadron", i.e. fighter squadron) of the Luftstreitkräfte, the air arm of the Imperial German Army during World War I.
The squadron scored 28 aerial victories during the war, including at least one observation balloon.
[1] Jasta 49 was founded at Flieger-Abteilung (Aviator Detachment) 12 at Cottbus on 23 December 1917.
The squadron's commander claimed its first aerial victory on 27 March 1918.
On 8 July 1918, it moved to its final wartime posting, serving as part of Jagdgruppe A with 3 Armee.
