As of the census[5] of 2000, there were 1,359 people, 495 households, and 411 families residing in the township.

The population density was 64.8 inhabitants per square mile (25.0/km2).

There were 495 households, out of which 31.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 73.7% were married couples living together, 5.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 16.8% were non-families.

13.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 5.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
