The Rice Covered Bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

As of the census[5] of 2000, there were 1,863 people, 726 households, and 537 families residing in the township.
22.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 12.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
