Coin runners was also reintroduced as a battle mode from Mario Kart Wii.
New characters include Inkling Boy and Inkling Girl, with Gold Mario (a variant of Metal Mario), Bowser Jr, King Boo, and Dry Bones returning from previous games in the series.
