Lower Mount Bethel Township is part of the Lehigh Valley metropolitan area, which had a population of 861,899 and was the 68th-most populous metropolitan area in the U.S. as of the 2020 census.

It is drained by the Delaware River, which forms its eastern and southern boundary and separates it from New Jersey.

Its villages include Gruvertown, Martins Creek, Mount Pleasant, and Riverton.

22.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.

Students in grades nine through 12 attend either Easton Area High School in Easton or Bangor Area High School in Bangor.
