Marathon (village), New York

The village is within the former Central New York Military Tract and was incorporated in 1861.

The Peck Memorial Library and Tarbell Building are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.1 square miles (2.9 km2).

As of the census[6] of 2000, there were 1,063 people, 419 households, and 286 families residing in the village.

There were 439 housing units at an average density of 388.8 per square mile (150.1/km2).

26.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
