Truxton is a town in Cortland County, New York, United States.

[3] The town is named for Commodore Thomas Truxtun, a privateer in the American Revolution and one of the US Navy's first commanding officers.

Truxton is in the northeastern part of the county, northeast of the city of Cortland.

The region that includes Cortland County was part of the Central New York Military Tract.

The Truxton Depot was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.
