The township surrounds the borough of Hydetown in the west and borders the city of Titusville, located on the Venango County line, to the north, east, and west.
Oil Creek, a tributary of the Allegheny River, flows through the township from west to south, passing through Hydetown and Titusville.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 32.2 square miles (83.4 km2), all land.
23.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
