Rancho Alegre is located in central Jim Wells County at 27°44′24″N 98°5′35″W / 27.74000°N 98.09306°W / 27.74000; -98.09306 (27.739945, -98.093028).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.3 square miles (3.3 km2), all land.
