According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 40.9 square miles (106 km2), all land.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 1,439 people, 514 households, and 404 families residing in the township.

There were 543 housing units at an average density of 13.3 per square mile (5.1/km2).

There were 514 households, out of which 34.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 68.7% were married couples living together, 5.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.4% were non-families.

19.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 9.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
