The town was located at the crossroads of the Louisville, New Orleans and Texas Railway and the Yazoo and Mississippi Valley Railroad.
Most of the early residents were employed by the railroads or worked in the logging industry and sawmills.
According to the United States Census Bureau, Roxie has a total area of 1.1 square miles (2.9 km2), all land.
[2] As of the 2020 United States census, there were 469 people, 136 households, and 119 families residing in the town.
