The first know use of the cave was by Paleolithic hunters, around 8,000 years ago.
[1] Over this period, it has also served as a wine cellar and air raid shelter, the latter during WW2.
[2] The cave contains abundant speleothems, including stalactites, stalagmites, and flowstone.
The operators of the show cave claim that it contains the world's longest navigable underground river, the Rubicon.
[2] This river is around 700 meters long and created the cave as it flowed.
