Six Mile Grove Township was organized in 1866 and named from the fact a grove located there stood six miles (9.7 km) from Benson.
As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 171 people, 63 households, and 51 families residing in the township.
There were 63 households, out of which 30.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 77.8% were married couples living together, 3.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 17.5% were non-families.
15.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 4.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
None of the families and 0.6% of the population were living below the poverty line, including no under eighteens and 5.9% of those over 64.
