Super Rare Games was founded by George Perkins and is currently led by Perkins, Stuart Townsend, Verity Murphy, and Lindsey Reed.

On June 16, 2023, Super Rare Games announced the start of limited print games for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

According to Perkins, the reasoning behind this is "when you release [too] much content, you lose the collectability of having a set".
