The Pacific Crest Trail traverses the flanks of the peak and provides access to the Northwest Ridge and Southeast Spur non-technical climbing routes.
He is also the namesake of nearby Abiel Peak, and Tinkham Mountain in Glacier National Park, Montana.
Tinkham Peak is located in the marine west coast climate zone of western North America.
As a result, the west side of the Cascades experiences high precipitation, especially during the winter months in the form of snowfall.
