[2] Werrington County is part of the Indigenous Australian, Darug nation[3] and is located in the Deerubbin Local Aboriginal Land Council Area.
Shortly after the arrival of the First Fleet in Australia in 1788, an outbreak of smallpox decimated the local indigenous communities and made it easier for settlers to dispossess them of their land.
[6] As per the 2021 Census[1] there were 3,698 residents in Werrington County with a median weekly household income of $2,042 compared to the national average of $1,746.
The most common ancestries were Australian 39.4%, English 36.5%, Irish 10.4%, Scottish 8.5% and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander 6.1%.
The majority of people (85.7%) only spoke English at home with the other languages spoken being Arabic 0.7%, Punjabi 0.6%, Hindi 0.5%, Italian 0.5% and Tagalog 0.4%.
[10] Werrington County has quick and easy access to Penrith by travelling west on Dunheved Road or along Great Western Highway.
At the state level, it is part of the Electoral district of Londonderry, represented by Labor Party member Prue Car.
