Zuidzande

Zuidzande is a village in the Dutch province of Zeeland.

The village was first mentioned in 1290 as "insula de Zuitzant", and means "south sand (bank)" and refers to the former island.

Zuid (south) has been added to distinguish between Cadzand.

[3] The Dutch Reformed church was destroyed in 1944 during the Battle of the Scheldt.

[4] Zuidzande was a separate municipality until 1970, when it was merged with Oostburg.
