Basketball competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru began on July 27 and continue through August 10.

For the men's event, the top seven teams at the 2017 FIBA AmeriCup, have qualified to compete.

[5] For each 3x3 tournament, the top five teams in each gender in the world rankings as of November 1, 2018 qualified.

Host nation Peru was barred from participating by FIBA, following sanctions imposed on the Peruvian Basketball Federation.

[6] Both Paraguay and the Virgin Islands qualified for the women's tournament for the first time.
