This page documents all tornadoes confirmed by various weather forecast offices of the National Weather Service in the United States from July to September 2022.
On average, there are 134 confirmed tornadoes in the United States in July, 83 in August, 74 in September, and 61 in October.
[1] The summer and early fall months were very quiet in 2022, with only 161 tornadoes confirmed in the four-month period, less than half the average for the period.
July and August were both significantly below average, with only 66 and 35 tornadoes being confirmed respectively.
Unlike previous years, little to no tropical cyclone activity was present during this time, and no tropical tornadoes occurred as a result.
