Locust Township is in southern Columbia County and contains the unincorporated communities of Slabtown and Numidia.

[4] As of the census[6] of 2000, there were 1,410 people, 572 households, and 427 families residing in the township.

There were 572 households, out of which 28.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.9% were married couples living together, 5.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.2% were non-families.
